£100,000 is still a high London salary

It sits between the 80th and 90th percentiles in the 2024 London full-time series. The national series places it above the 90th percentile. Calling it “ordinary in London” would overstate the comparison.

London is a large, mixed labour market. A well-paid office or friendship group can give a very selective view of it. This tool measures a work region; it has no idea what your friends earn.

Pay rank does not calculate a lifestyle

Housing, dependants, travel and working hours affect what that salary feels like. A regional income rank does not adjust for any of them. Use your actual take-home income and costs in the household budget tool to explore the monthly result.
